          FAQs

          Who can donate blood?

Most people between the ages of 17 and 65, who weigh at least 50 kg (110 lbs), and are in good general health, can donate blood. You should not have any active infections, fever, or serious chronic illness at the time of donation.

You can donate whole blood roughly every 3 months (12 weeks). This gap gives your body enough time to fully replenish the red blood cells and iron lost during donation.

Healthy women can donate freely and they definitely should.

Menstruation alone is not a disqualifier. Only temporary conditions like pregnancy, breastfeeding, or low haemoglobin may delay a donation. It is 100 percent safe otherwise.

In many cases, yes — most common medications (like those for blood pressure, thyroid, or birth control) don’t disqualify you. However, some medications (such as blood thinners, certain antibiotics, or recent vaccinations) may require a waiting period. Please don’t stop any prescribed medication just to donate — instead, mention it during screening so our staff can confirm your eligibility.

Diabetes: Usually fine if it’s well-controlled with diet or oral medication. Insulin-dependent diabetics should check with our staff first.

High blood pressure: Acceptable as long as your reading is below 180/100 at the time of donation, and you feel well.

Low blood pressure: Acceptable if you feel well and your reading is at least 90/50

No, sterile, single-use equipment makes it safe.

Every needle and collection set is factory-sealed, used once, then destroyed — there is no possible route for infection during donation.

Moreover, you also get a basic health screening test for major diseases.

          Heart Health*

Lowers excess iron, reducing oxidative stress — a key driver of cardiovascular disease.

          Iron Regulation*

Prevents silent organ damage from haemochromatosis; keeps iron levels in check.

          Free Health Screen*

Every session includes Hb, BP, pulse & cholesterol check — at no cost to you.

          Cell Renewal*

Triggers bone marrow to generate fresher red blood cells, boosting regenerative capacity.

          Better Oxygen Delivery*

Fresher, newer RBCs carry oxygen more efficiently throughout the body.

          Mental Wellbeing*

Altruistic giving reliably lowers cortisol and lifts mood — proven psychological benefit.
